Molly Mae was launched at the prestigious Home & Gift show in Harrogate on the 19th July 2009. After over 6 years of running her own Card and Gift shop and listening to the needs of her customers, Stacey wanted to put her ideas and the very valuable user feedback to good use. So she got together with Jude, who had worked as a graphic designer for over 10 years, and launched Molly Mae.
Molly Mae specialise in beautiful, design-led greeting cards for all occasions. We especially recognise the consumer demand for cards for family members and special occasions.
Molly Mae cards are created from original images, designed around hand drawings and incorporating quirky patterns in contemporary colours. We print on high quality FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified card, specifically designed for the greeting cards, and have a hand-finished option.
In 2003, after graduating, Stacey fulfilled a lifelong ambition to open a Card & Gift shop - 'Icle Star' in Desborough, Northamptonshire. The shop was well received in the town and soon she took the opportunity to take on more space and open a coffee shop next door. Stacey ran art classes, baby groups and children's parties all focused around cards and card making but when Molly Mae was so well received into the industry, Stacey decided to sell the shop and concentrate on Molly Mae.
Jude graduated in 1998 in Graphic Design. Her career then took her to London where she worked as a designer at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. There she enjoyed designing booklets, posters and websites for children and won a number of national and International awards. She also gained essential knowledge of print processes and became at expert with design software. In 2003 she moved to the midlands to work at a National Children's Cancer Charity in a similar role. Like Stacey she also had to adjust her working week when Molly Mae became so popular but she does still work for the charity one day a week.
Stacey and Jude juggle work and family life with 5 children between them, the eldest being 12 and the youngest turned 1 in May (some may have seen a bump at Top Drawer and a pram in Harrogate!). People often ask who Molly Mae is, and she is simply a combination of our daughter's names, Molly (aged 3) and Rosa Mae (aged 4). To keep things fair, look out for ranges named after the boys, Ellis, Joe & Otis!
At the beginning of 2011 Katie came on board to help us in the office and warehouse. Sharing the same attention to detail and pride in Molly Mae, she is a great asset to our small team!
Molly Mae can now be found in over 450 shops around the UK, Ireland and even Australia! They are mainly stocked in gift shops but they can also be found in florists, department stores and clothes shops.

Molly Mae are supporting two children’s cancer charities this year through the sales of Christmas 2011 single cards and five card packs.
Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group
The CCLG is an association of healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and care of children and young people with cancer. Through a network of specialist treatment centres, CCLG members are dedicated to providing the best possible treatment for all children with cancer, wherever they live, and as close to home as possible. Supporting families is a key activity, including provision of a range of high quality information booklets, as well as Contact, a national magazine for families.
For further information go to www.cclg.org.uk. Registered Charity Number: 286669.
The Harley Staples Cancer Trust
In memory of a little boy, Harley Staples who died in 2009 aged 8. Harley had a rare leukaemia - B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Burkitt Type.
Harley’s family have set up the charity to provide holiday homes for children and teenagers suffering from cancer. They are there to be enjoyed with their families, to help create happy memories to cherish, and to offer fresh air and respite away from the hospital.
For further information go to www.harleystaples.co.uk. Registered Charity Number: 113864.
Stacey & Jude have close personal links to both these charities and are commited to supporting them throughout the year. Stacey ran a half marathon last year for The Harley Staples Cancer Trust and her husband is running the London Marathon for them in 2012. Jude prefers less athletic support and donates artwork time. We are thrilled to report that from orders taken so far (as at October 2011) Christmas card sales will generate over £4000 to share between the two charities and we are hoping more will come in before the end of the year. Follow us on Facebook to track our progress and see how the money has helped the charities.
